With teacher shotages across the country, fear of gun violence and the recent pandemic, the effect has been a widening of pre-existing gaps in education, particularly literacy. The Covid pandemic alone has created the largest disruption of education systems in human systems, not to mention the psychological stress on teachers and students alike. But, there is hope

Hands Free Learning Center offers preschool – 3rd grade reading tutoring by a certified teacher who has helped many students with reading difficulties. Literacy skills begin in the pre-school years and are built throughout the school. Early literacy is learning about sounds, words and language. We provide the tools, training and support schools need to accelerate reading growth for struggling readers. We work with pre-k through 5th grade to improve early literacy instruction/tutoring, so that children can become powerful readers and thinkers. We believe literacy is the building block where all other skills are built upon.

Childhood

My love for teaching and reading started as a child. I was an avid reader and loved writing creatively. I was granted several awards and one of my great chievements was socring 306 in a Nigerian exam called jamb. I still recall that very proudly

Student

As a student, I was always "teaching" english sometimes unsolicited and other times not. Even though, I was good in the sciences, I decided to switch careers of becoming a chemical engineer to pursue theater arts and education.

Teaching Profession

One of my goals was to become a theater arts teacher. And although I did do that, I became more partial to literacy. So I decided to advocate for students by championing the cause of proficiency in reading/language arts/writing
